How Camp Works

  • There are a number of ways that we keep campers safe and healthy. First and foremost, our staff go through an extensive training in preparation for camp which includes many hours on health and safety procedures. Most staff members are trained in CPR and First Aid as well. In addition, we have a nurse on staff throughout the day who is there to care for any child who falls ill or needs any sort of assistance. Lastly we have around the clock security at our facility with personnel at every entrance and additional security walking the campus throughout the day.

  • At Camp Carmel Creek we believe in being intentional about our programming. We don’t take trips just for the sake of it, we want the trip experience to be worthwhile and meaningful to our campers. Yes we will take trips, and those trip will be intentionally crafted to fit each Adventure Track so campers have a full experience.

  • The adventure tracks (Athletics, Sci-Tech, Nature & Outdoors, and The Arts) are the specialty offerings that campers get to participate in each week. You choose the tracks that your child is most passionate about each week they attend camp. Each week is somewhat different, but campers will have a fully immersive and highly specialized experience when they attend our camp.

  • Campers are grouped by grade and by adventure track choice. This means that if your child is a 2nd grader and chooses Athletics, they will be grouped with all other 2nd graders who chose Athletics that week. If they choose to be in a different track the following week they will be in a different group but with the kids who chose that different track and thus with kids of similar interests and passions. Note that in some cases consecutive grades may be combined based on enrollment and choice patterns.

  • Yes, as long as they select the same Adventure Tracks in the same weeks. However if they want to be in a different Adventure Track, there are still other times during the day where they will see their friends. Morning Kick Off, Lunch, Chugim (clubs), and closing circle, are all times where groups are together.

  • YES! Camp Carmel Creek provides lunch through our partners at SAGE Dining Services. All campers are provided with a daily all-you-care-to-eat kosher community-inclusive lunch program. Please click here to view more information about the offerings.

  • Camp Carmel Creek is founded on core values that are rooted in Jewish text. These values come out in everything that we do at camp and are the focus of each activity. Through these values we are teaching the kids to care for one another and ultimately to be mensches. We start each camp day with an all camp gathering where we highlight these values and the stories that are associated with them, and we end each week with an all camp Shabbat celebration. Our Camp Shabbat is not about prayer or religion rather, it’s about community and coming together to celebrate our achievements each week as a camp. There are songs, and spirit (ruach) and many other activities along the way where joyous judaism is felt throughout camp.

  • Absolutely not, all members of the community, whether a student or not are welcome at Camp Carmel Creek. In addition, campers of all faiths and backgrounds are welcome at camp as well. We want every camper to have the best summer possible and we want them to have it here with us.
